Magnetite
Hercules Mine, Municipio de Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico
67 x 62 x 40 mm
Shiny black, octahedral crystals of Magnetite to 12 mm are intergrown and accented by a cluster of small, clear Quartz crystals. In excellent conditon, this specimen was self collected during the 1993 Grossular collecting trip Graham and I took. The outcrop lies just outside the mine, and was pointed out to us by Felix who was a mining engineer at the Hercules mine, following some exploratory blasting. (Author: GneissWare)
