This 5 cm wide sample with corroded galenite crystals is from Freiberg too but not that old as the above shown dolomite. It comes from a little new find at the Rote Grube in the very "city center" of Freiberg. The find contained I think some ten specimens and the sample looks forward to become a classic rarity one day. This appeared inside a piece of septarian mudstone I chopped up, I have absolutely no idea what it is/was, the stone is from Carboniferous strata, an area called "The Caton Shales" in the north west of England, near my home. Ive recovered maybe 200 or so specimens from this area but this is unlike any of the others. Im tempted to cut it lengthways so as to see another view which may yield further clues. size 135 x 40 mm (Author: nurbo)

This dolomite pseudo is definitely a favourite of mine. You know these pseudos after calcite scalenohedrons very well from the Schlema district, Erzgebirge, Saxony. But - this one is from Freiberg, precisely from the Abraham Shaft. It comes from a miner collection and was collected in the 1920s. It is the first one I ever saw from Freiberg and I think it will be the last... (Author: Andreas Gerstenberg)

This Epidote I picked up as a teenager out hunting one day, on Green Monster Mountain, Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. Around 1972-73. It is an old joke between my buddy and I that he got a three point buck that day and I got a rock! It is 3 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 3/4" (8.3cm x 3.8cm x 1.9cm). It is a partial crystal and ypu can get a sense of how large it would have been. (Author: Jim Prentiss)

This galena from Pente has done a real world trip. Found at Pente near Osnabrück/Lower Saxony it came to the Munich collector Willy Hirsch. As you see, there are some french additions on the label. These were written by the Paris mineral dealer Neree Boubee. Then the Sorbonne bought the specimen, sold it later to the German dealer Fritz Krantz. It was bought then from the collector Richartz in Cologne, who left it to the Berlin mineral dealer Klaus Lenz from whom I finally got it... (Author: Andreas Gerstenberg)

This is another cool find that I found the same day as the crystal above. This is one of my individual favorites from there. it;’s pretty unique for JXR. it has a little of everything except maybe an enhydro...It has a smokey phantom, growth lines(looks like zebra stripes), purple "flame"(color zoning that looks like wisp or flames of purple), and a cool little mini crystal that formed completely inside of the main crystal. The little minicrystal inside looks nicely formed with all it’s z and r faces but no m faces..hmm..strange never found one of these before (Author: Jason)

This POW Epidote was given to me a few yars ago by an old family friend. The crystals are quite small averaging 5/16" (8mm) long, embedded in Quartz crystal. This shows you what a Home-made Printed Circuit board looks like before it is drilled and stuffed with electronic components. These boards are so easy to do it is scary! You start off with a circuit design printed on a clear plastic sheet, place the sheet over a copper board covered with photo resist (Riston) and exposure it to a source of UVA (or sun light), develop and then removed unwanted copper with etchant (ammonium persulphate). The end result is shown in the photo. And the holes are drilled to accept the parts. (Author: Lumaes)
