Shirley Basin, near Casper, Wyoming

Pair of barite blades self collected in the Shirley Basin area in central Wyoming. The barite blades can be found in small pockets along high cliffs of consolidated volcanic ash. I spent many weekends searching for these and only found one pocket in miles of cliff faces that were searched. (Author: Joseph D'Oliveira)
