Magnetite

Black, octahedral Magnetite crystals to 25 mm are intergrown and lightly accented by rusty-red Hematite. In excellent conditon, this specimen was self collected during the 1993 Grossular collecting trip Graham and I took. The outcrop lies just outside the mine, and was pointed out to us by Felix who was a mining engineer at the Hercules mine, following some exploratory blasting. (Author: GneissWare)
