The Mountain Consolidated, or Mt. Con, was the deepest mine at Butte. The main shaft was 5,380 feet deep, and because of its depth, it was a very hot mine to work in. It produced excellent specimens of bornite chalcocite, enargite, and pyrite. (Author: crosstimber)
