Quartz with Calcite
Huanggangliang Iron Mine, Kèshíkèténg Qí, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia A.R., China
105.0 x 105.0 x 67.0 mm
Lustrous, glassy, light-smoky Quartz crystals to 56 x 33 mm support a stack of thin, flattened, light-pink Calcite blades to 44 mm across. Several other minor stacks of similar light-pink Calcite, some partly cleaved, provide an accent. Minor chipping is visible with a 10x loupe on the termination of one of the Quartz, otherwise they are pristine. This is an excellent and unusual piece from this prolific Chinese locality.
